When boiling eggs, do you add baking soda to the water?

Several resources on cooking recommend putting baking soda in the water in the saucepan. Baking soda, it would appear, may elevate the pH level of eggs, which in turn makes them simpler to peel. After adding half of a teaspoon of baking soda to a quart of water, you just continue with the procedures that are normally required to hard boil an egg.
